Arpino

The town, perched on two hills, dominates the picturesque Liri Valley, providing views of rare beauty

Arpino, an enchanting town in Lazio, embodies a precious blend of history, art, culture, landscape, spirituality and culinary tradition. Its roots go back to antiquity, making it a treasure trove waiting to be discovered.

The ancient Acropolis of “Civitavecchia”, surrounded by imposing cyclopean walls, preserves a majestic ogival arch, a unique architectural example.

Founded, according to legend, by the god Saturn, Arpino has been the cradle of great personalities who have marked history and culture, from Marcus Tullius Cicero to Caius Marius, from Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa to Giuseppe Cesari, also known as the “Cavalier of Arpino.” They are joined by such illustrious figures as Pasquale Rotondi, Francesco Saverio Maria Bianchi, the musician Carlo Conti and the singer “Gizziello.”

Walking through Arpino, visitors are won over by the magic of its ancient neighborhoods, intricate alleys and picturesque views. The beating heart of the town is Piazza Municipio, often regarded as its main gathering place, where history and modernity meet harmoniously.
