Sora

Sora, an ancient city of the Volsci, is a place where history, nature and faith intertwine in a fascinating combination

Located on the border between Lazio and Abruzzo, it spreads along the banks of the Liri River, which flows gently through its town centre, giving it a unique atmosphere.

An important commercial centre in the province of Frosinone, Sora boasts a long religious tradition, being an episcopal seat since the first centuries of Christianity. Its history and culture are recounted in the Museum of the Media Valle del Liri, while places of worship include the majestic Cathedral Church of Santa Maria Assunta and the striking Church of Santa Restituta, the city's patron saint. Not far from the centre stands one of the architectural gems of the area: the Abbey of San Domenico Abate, founded in 1011, a testimony to the rich spiritual and artistic heritage of the area.

Sora also enchants with its elegance, with bridges and riverside promenades that are inviting for pleasant walks, immersed in a setting of tranquillity and beauty. This town is the birthplace of illustrious figures who have left their mark on history and culture, including Marco Attilio Regolo, Cesare Baronio, Giuseppe Rosati, Amedeo Carnevale, Vincenzo Simoncelli, Antonio Valente and the famous director and actor Vittorio De Sica.
