Posta Fibreno, which became an autonomous municipality in 1957 and the last of the towns established in the province of Frosinone, stands on a hill with breathtaking views of the Comino Valley and the Liri Valley, two gems of the Lazio landscape and at the base of which lies its famous lake of the same name.
The village's name has fascinating and controversial origins: “Posta” may derive from the ancient vernacular term “posita,” meaning “situated in the right place,” while “Fibreno” would seem to be inspired by the Latin term “Fiber-Fibri,” referring to particular animals, perhaps beavers, that once inhabited the lake's icy waters.
